***Linking up with MamaKat today: 3.) 8 people/places/or things you’d like to give a virtual Valentine to.
I decided to dedicate my virtual valentines to people who make my heart happy at school. Have I mentioned I love my job?
Dear Boy Who Does Magic Tricks for Me Every Day After School,
I give you this valentine in honor of your awesome magic tricks that your perform every. single. day. for me. Before school, during lunch and after school. They are amazing!! Remember me when you’re famous, ok? It makes my heart happy that you choose to share your skills with me.
Dear Students Who Say They Could Stay in My Room All Day Because They Love Me and My Class So Much,
I give you this valentine in honor of you making me feel very special and honored by the fact that you are an 8th grader and you’d actually like to hang out with me and do math all day. Either I’m awesome, or the rest of your teachers are really, really bad. I’ll assume the prior.
Dear Student Who Asked if She Could Start a “Friend Club” for Kids with Special Needs and Typical Peers,
I already adored you, now you’re officially my favorite.
Dear Teaching Partner Ashley,
I give you this valentine in honor of helping me survive the first semester in a new school after teaching from my couch for the last 7 years. I am so happy that we instantly clicked and became not only super math colleagues but great friends. I look forward to the years ahead trying to make 14-year-olds give a shit about math.
Dear Ladies Who Lunch with Me,
I give you this valentine in honor of your friendship which has made transitioning back to work outside the home much easier and more enjoyable. I especially am enjoying chocolate week in honor of Valentine’s Day. Thanks for also reassuring me that I’m not the only 8th grade teacher who feels like she’s teaching zombies this week.
Dear Student Helper from the High School,
I give you this valentine in honor of your copying skills. Seriously, you are the greatest!!! I hate making copies and you have already made at least 400 copies for me this week. You seem to have your shit together and I appreciate that so much.
Dear 5th period Boys Who Call Me Mom Instead of Mrs. Townsend,
I give you this valentine in honor of your adorableness. It was a misspoken word one day that turned into the sweetest term of endearment. I love it. You can call me Mom any day.
To All of My 8th Graders (minus two or three),
I give you this valentine in honor of you making me extremely happy that I went back to teaching in a “regular” school. You are all sweet, smart, funny and kind and I feel honored to be your teacher. I hope I’m worthy.
Happy Valentines Day everyone!!
