Happy This Week

School is still wonderful for all of us! And it was between 75 and 80 degrees this week so I didn’t melt. I’m getting to know my students better each week which definitely makes it more fun. I’m totally overwhelmed but just going with the flow. Much easier to do when it’s your 14th year of teaching and not your 1st!

Olivia went to “regular” science class with peers twice this week. She LOVED it and did really well. Her special ed teacher wrote a note that said “Olivia had an EXCELLENT day. She really enjoyed Science.” That is her absolute favorite subject. She continues to say school is GREAT!

Speaking of my favorite girl, she and I had lots of quality time this week. The boys have soccer almost every night, and Matt helps coach, so it ends up being just her and I after dinner until bedtime. We’re reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle and watching/singing along to The Wizard of Oz. I do a mean Tin Man impression.

Gabe is just the sweetest kid in the whole world. He lost his slides (soccer sandals) and felt terrible about it. He made a list of all of the extra chores he can do to earn the money for new ones! As he should…but still very sweet. He’s in one of his non-teenage phases and I’m enjoying it while I can! He actually wants to hang around me and talk to me!

Matthew really misses me. Even though it’s just an hour before school and 10 minutes or so after school, I can tell he misses me. Last night he asked if I would come in his room and cuddle before bed. How could I say no?

While we were cuddling, he said, “Mom? Have you ever wondered why feet are called feet? Or why knees are called knees? Or pillow? Or birthday? Or Mom? I mean, there’s like a billion questions I could ask like that!”

Every day he tells me how many more days until his birthday. In case you were wondering, it’s 7 more days!

I got a new haircut this week and I love it. I needed a change even if it was a small one.

My Mom and I went shopping last weekend and bought some damn cute things for Olivia. She is so fun to dress, it’s ridiculous. I just love dressing her! I found a couple of things and two pairs of cute shoes for myself. I’m going to the Gap 30% off sale this weekend! (That’s my favorite store!)

IT’S FRIDAY PEOPLE!!!!

  1. You sound happy! So glad. I want to see pics of the haircut! Miss you :o)

  2. So happy to hear about Olivia’s science class!
Your instincts about her excelling in classes with all children of her grade that you mention in another post this week are 100% super!
I was upset to read that she was only in Art class with all of her grade. It seems like the new school is taking this transition slowly. I hope they continue to allow your daughter to impress them on a daily basis!
I love when young ladies love Science!
    Way to go Olivia!!!

  3. So glad to hear that school is going well for all of you. I hope it just keeps getting better.
