This year we decided we needed a relaxing vacation instead of a sightseeing vacation. We also wanted to go someplace that wouldn’t cost and arm and a leg. We needed to go to Atlanta to pick up a bike for Olivia (more on that later!) so it made sense to pick a place semi-close to that spot. Sixteen years ago we were engaged on the way to Myrtle Beach so it was easy to decide to go back there again. We rented a condo right on the beach for the week and it was perfect! The place had plenty of room, we had an indoor pool, and outdoor pool, a lazy river and the beach right out the door. The kids were in heaven! We swam, we built sand castles, we ate ice cream, we read books, we watched TV, we went shopping, we relaxed. I’ll admit it took me a couple of days to relax; I’m just not that good at it. But once I got the hang of it, I was totally into it. If you can believe it, I didn’t take a ton of pictures because, honestly, how many pictures of my kids swimming do I need? Plus, I was in the water with them most of the time. My friend Amy loaned me her underwater camera which was really fun to use. One of our favorite nights was sitting on the beach, watching the fireworks. It was Olivia’s very first time watching fireworks! The noise didn’t bother her at all this time. She was fascinated by them!
I love sightseeing, but it was nice to just sit back, soak it all in and enjoy my family.

Looks like a fabulous vacation! I live for the beach – love the beach – coulda been a beach bum! One of these days we’ll get the boys to the ocean – they won’t know what to do with themselves!!! For now we’ll keep loving the waves of Lake Michigan š
