Headaches

Linking up with Mamakat today: Something at gave you a headache.

It started with a little 10 year old girl emptying her closet. I would leave her alone for 5 minutes in her room and find all of her clothes (and this girl’s closet puts mine to shame) strewn about her room. Her dresser, all of her hanging clothes, wipes, socks, everything out. So we tied her closet shut with a belt.

That lasted five minutes.

So we put a hook-and-eye lock on it and that seemed to solve the problem.

See then decided to start stripping her bed. The comforter, the sheets, the mattress pad. And then her diaper. And then she’d pee on the mattress. Needless to we went insane. This happened at least once a day. My MIL found an “indestructible” mattress pad complete with zipper. She ripped the zipper and had the mattress pad off in less than 15 minutes. So we bought tie downs and clamps and clamped that mattress pad down. She could still get her covers off, but couldn’t pee on the mattress.

She got bored.

A few weeks ago, I went into her room and her bed was moved across the room. She weighs 55 pounds and it is a queen bed! This happened every day, multiple times a day. it was driving us nuts! We couldn’t figure out the appeal of moving her bed across the room.

Until I walked in and saw this:

Now I get it. She was bound and determined to get those damn stuffed animals.

I have to remember to never, ever doubt the strength and determination of my daughter.

Now excuse me…I need a glass of wine and some Tylenol. Or Xanax.
