Focus

Life sometimes get to me. I get overwhelmed by how small we are in the grand scheme of the universe. I get lost in the thought of how we are just a blip on the radar of human existence. The thought that there will be a day when we are not together, when we don’t exist, blows my mind.

When I get in this train of thought, I tell myself to focus.

Focus on you.

The way you bring me coffee each morning
How you think I walk on water
You tell me I’m beautiful and sexy every single day
How we still love spending time together more than anything else
You make me feel special and loved

Your long, beautiful fingers
The freckles splayed across your nose
How you never hold a grudge
The way you live in the moment
The fact that I’m your favorite person in the whole world
Your excitement, joy and zest for life that is apparent each and every day

The way your mind works
Your stunning green eyes and the dimples that punctuate a perfect smile
How you love your sister and brother
Your natural caring and loving manner
Your energy and excitement for life
How you still want me to tuck you in at night

The twinkle in your eye that never dims
The cleft in your chin
Your humor and how you make everyone you meet smile and laugh
The way you worship your brother and love your sister
When you still want me to help you brush your teeth, take a bath, go to sleep

When the world seems too big and we seem to small, when I get overwhelmed by our existence, all I have to do is focus on all of the wonder that is around me and everything makes sense again.

  3. This. This is what I try to do when things feel too hard, too heavy, too much. You said it so well. Your focuses, each and everyone of them, are beautiful.

  4. Awesome pics, as usual – I’m telling you, a freelance photography biz may be in your future 🙂

And of course a wonderful message. It can be so hard to focus on the here and now. I try to train my brain to stay in the moment, but it is not easy!

  5. A great reminder to embrace the present and to surround yourself with those who love you and who are loved by you.

  6. I’ve never commented before, but I just have to say I love your blog. I am a daily reader. Your honesty is awesome. And your love of your children really show.

  7. Love these kids. Love you too 🙂
