Happy This Week

I am not going to lie…I am drowning in stress. I feel like I’m barely hanging on by a thread. School started for the kids, school started for me and Matt is down for the count with 3 herniated disks. We’ve been in the ER, the doctor, the neurologist and are probably looking at surgery soon. He’s been unable to really move for over a week now. It’s been rough. But guess what? I still found some happy.

Olivia has transitioned back to school so seamlessly. She amazes me. Three new teachers, two new aides, new rooms, new bus drivers, back-to-school schedule and she just breezed through. I love my girl.

I am getting really good at doing cool things with Olivia’s hair. I am not naturally adept at doing hair so this is a big deal to me. She always looks cute.

Gabe’s new travel soccer team won their first tournament last weekend. They played four games in the 95 degree heat and won all four! The last three were even a shutout. He played the whole game during the last three games on defense and did a great job. The best part? He had fun!

At open house last week, Matthew told the teacher which kids not to sit together because they would talk and cause trouble. Only Matthew can get away with that. He’s a charmer. And in a good way, not a creepy way. πŸ˜‰

My weekly walks with my Mom make me happy, even if they are at 5:30 a.m.

Spending time with my BFF always makes me happy. She’s the best and I love her kids too.

Even though I should stay home and clean and do laundry and get work done, I’m taking the kids and going to my Dad’s lake for Saturday and Sunday. They are excited and will have a good time. It will be fun to wrap up summer that way.

What made you happy this week?

  1. after being sick for the past two weeks, missing school on monday and tuesday due to the hurricane that never came, and then spending 90+ minutes in severe weather lockdown on thursday with 140 kids in the library (about 80 of which were kindergarteners!) due to tornadoes that DID come…..i’m happy to be packing up the kids and heading to my godmother’s house for the weekend. complete with her tres cool new swimming pool setup. bring on the pool floats and deck chairs!

  2. I wish you could come over and do really cool things with my hair. Hugs to you.

PS when we were still living in Utah I saw on facebook my friend mention her friend “Matt T. {your last name}” and for a second I got really excited thinking it was you guys…. nope he lived in Utah too!! Ohh man!

  4. It’s so great to be able to focus on the positive even when your felling stressed!

  5. Hope Matt starts feeling better and can avoid surgery. It’s a rough one 😦 My happy this week was soccer and diving! Watching my boys be successful at something they love so much just brings tears to my eyes. It really was the highlight of my week!
