Back in April, when I was researching our trip to Maine, I discovered that Bar Harbor offered whale watching trips. I looked into it a little further and found that it looked amazing…and expensive. I asked Matt if we could swing it and he hemmed and hawed but finally agreed after I promised to cook every night on vacation to save money so we could go.
After seeing these majestic whales in person, Matt promptly looked at me and said “This was amazing! I’m so glad you had us do this.” It was my turn to look at him and say “Told you so.”
The whales put on a such an astounding show even the workers on the boat, who see this two or three times a day, couldn’t believe it. It was as if there was a trainer out there in the middle of the ocean telling these whales what to do for us. They breeched, they fluked, they dove, they were airborne. We saw 4 humpbacks and two were synchronized in their movements! In between all of these 80 ton, 80 feet long beauties were also about a dozen dolphins. They were popping in and out of the water in between these grandiose creatures like they were on a boisterous playdate. It was beyond cool.
The kids loved it, we loved it, it was our favorite part of the entire trip.
Told you so, Matt.
These pictures don’t even begin to capture the whales’ beauty and size. But I did my best!
These pics are amazing! I wish I was there with you. So glad you had fun!
