10 Things I’d Do If I Didn’t Have to Work

If you’re like me, you’re addicted to blogging and reading blogs. I almost cringe when I find a new one that I like because I have so many and I can’t keep up as it is…but I just can’t turn down a great blog! I’m new to the “Mama Kat’s Writer Workshop” so forgive me if you’ve heard of it a million times over. It’s so cool over there…be sure to check her out.

This particular topic just shouted at me today because this is what I think about every day! What would I do if I didn’t have to work? Oh, the bliss! Oh, the things I could get done! Oh, the stress it would relieve! So here are the top 10 things I’d do if I didn’t have to work…

1.) Build my photography business. Right now, it’s more of a hobby and I take pictures of friends’ families. I’d really like to expand it. I’d really like to practice more!

2.) Keep up with my scrapbooks. Don’t hate me, but I’m all caught up until September 2011. I know, I know. That’s great, right? But it’s not because I was almost a year behind until about a month ago. I had Groupons that were going to expire so I had to get my butt in gear. I’d rather keep up with it on a regular basis. I think my journaling for the kids would be much better!

3.) Take a nap daily. Wouldn’t you?

4.) Exercise more. I manage to fit in about 1.5 hours a day now…I’d love to be able to fit in just a bit more. Yes, I do love to exercise and, yes, I would like to lose a few LBs.

5.) Spend more time in the kitchen. I have lots of recipes that I’ve saved that I haven’t tried because it’s just easier and quicker to make the standbys. I would love to have more time to try new things.

6.) Shop! Duh!

7.) Write the 3 books I have in my head. I know, I need to just write. I keep telling myself that but then I have 200 papers to grade and 3 sets of homework to do and cleaning and laundry and…I don’t write.

8.) Blog and read blogs more. I don’t even understand BlogHer. I don’t regularly visit SITS. I’d like to have more time to explore.

9.) Read more! Right now I’ve been managing 10 minutes before bed…and some days not even that. You all know I love to read!

10.) Have more sex. Right?? Because I wouldn’t be so tired and stressed out!! Ha!!!

What would you do if you didn’t have to work? In reality, I probably wouldn’t be any less stressed or get any of these things done because I have 3 chilren!! But it’s sure fun to dream.

  1. my list could go on and on and on!!! and it would include a LOT of your stuff….except writing a book. there are no books floating around in my brain šŸ˜‰

  2. This is so funny, because I don’t work, yet I too would LOVE to have time to do most of that! My days fly by so fast and before I know it school is out and we’re on to the afterschool activity grind. I’ve been vowing to get out my camera more and get better at taking pictures but I just don’t have the time (or the inspiration right now) and it’s collecting dust! I am finding time to exercise, at least a little. I’m training for a 1/2 marathon and that’s taking up some of my days, but the rest of my time is constant cleaning and organizing (only to get messed up once kids get home) and grocery shopping. Once that stuff is done there is no time for anything else.

  3. I’d love to read more too. I haven’t finished a book since my daughter was born about two months ago. That is awful!! But, my attention span is SHOT, and I don’t really have much free time right now!!

  4. I’m kinda jealous of the 1.5 hours of exercise you get. I’m lucky if I get .5.

  5. A nap… What I would do for a nap! Great list.

  6. Love your list. I don’t know if I could stop at 10! There are so many things I cram into a weekend and very few of them for me. I gotta work on finding the me time – the me who isn’t at work me.

  7. I second *everything* but number 1. I would subsitute that with study for math test and start school and study for that.

  8. sounds like a great plan the last one is the most fun of course.
