Plans

I was watching Soul Surfer last night and didn’t expect to be so moved by this kind of movie. At the beginning of the movie, a youth pastor tells the girl whose arm was bitten off by the shark this quote from the Bible:

“I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)”

I’m not one to quote the Bible. But that one hit me hard. I’ve been feeling very…I don’t even know what the word is…lost, I guess. I needed that verse. Especially today. I’m going to keep reading it over and over until it sinks in. And maybe I’ll even start believing it.

  1. I know how hard it is to understand, but as God says in Isaiah, “my ways are not your ways…” This has long been one of my favorite scriptures, and it gives me hope. Peace and blessings to you 🙂 ~Dawn

  2. I love that verse… and I believe it! Lauren and I loved that movie!

  3. Tiffany, I’m sorry things are tough right now. I’m sorry about what you had to put up with yesterday (I read that post but was waiting for something worthwhile to come to me to say before commenting) and I’m hoping this sinks in soon. You are an amazing woman, an amazing mother. You provide so many of us who are just starting this journey inspiration. Please know that.

  4. Love that verse. A friend shared it with me and I so needed it as well. Chin up girlie!

  5. This verse is one I depend on. Someone also mentioned the story about how your life is like a work-of-art, masterpiece tapestry, but you can only see the backside of it now, with all the knots, muted colors and sketchy form. Later we will see the beauty on the other side. Hard to fathom sometimes, but I believe it’s true.

  6. Great scripture, I needed to hear that too. Thank you for sharing!

  7. Now I want to see that movie even more!!! I love this scripture it is everything I know to be true in this life! And it makes me soooooooooo thankful for religion and having it to fall back on when things get dark and scary. I always know that God has my back… seriously!!! It makes the trial a little less barring to know that huh? Thank you for sharing this as a nice little reminder! I love spiritual food!

  8. I’m not one to quote scripture either. But, I agree. This particular scripture has gotten me through most of my life’s woes. I am glad it is bringing you strength. I hope that it finds you smiling soon. xoxo
