Little Fish

When I think about last summer, it boggles my mind.

This little guy wouldn’t even put his face in the water.

He was afraid to go in water that was deeper than 2 feet.

He wouldn’t jump in.

I felt so bad for him because he was so scared.

And now? Look at him go!!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when, on the final day of lessons, he did this!

I’m so glad he’s over his fear of water!!

Now…off to chase Olivia around the pool…

  1. The diving board?! The diving board is HUGE! Congrats, Gabe! I think a celebratory Slurpee is in order.

  2. isn’t it amazing from one summer to the next? hannah used to REFUSE to put her face in the water…and by the end of her first summer of swim lessons, her instructor was throwing her in the water and she’d come up giggling like crazy! it makes swimming pools so much better when the kiddos actually swim and enjoy them šŸ™‚ i love that last picture of your dare devil flying through the air!

  3. Wow! I’m impressed! Lily is afraid of the water and I think last year she did much better than this year. My goal by the end of summer is to have her actually go in the water and not just sit on the steps of my parent’s pool! LOL

  4. That totally gives me hope! Ella used to love the water but this season she doesn’t even like it if her face gets splashed! Maybe next year she will be totally over it and ready to swim!

  5. Such a wonderful accomplishment! It truly is amazing what a difference a year can make. My Olivia has discovered, all on her own, how to hold her breath under water and ‘swim’ a few feet before coming up for air. This is such a big deal as far as I’m concerned. I’m not nearly as afraid to have her near water. Of course, we won’t be leaving her unsupervised anytime soon, but…still, holding your breath is a good thing to know how to do.

  6. We’re still scared of the deep end over here. And the baby (um, okay, he’s really a toddler) hasn’t actually ever been in the pool. Mom fail.

  7. Great job, Matty! I bet he feels as big as his big brother and sister!!

  8. Way to go Matty!!! I feel the same way about the progress Eli has made! It was only 7 months ago that I couldn’t get him to even leave the side of the pool no matter how shallow the water. It’s amazing the difference a little time can make! Best summer ever, so far šŸ˜‰

  9. That’s awesome. My daughter has progressed too, from fearing the water to readily jumping in. It is so exciting to witness.

    Great job!
