Glamour

A few months ago, I received an email from Jessica at Glamour magazine asking to interview me.

Of course I thought it was a joke.

But I emailed her back anyway.

She said she had read my post about My Biggest Secret and wanted to share it with their readers in the June “Secrets” issue of their magazine. She then asked me if she could call and interview me.

Of course I thought she was still joking.

But I emailed her back anyway.

Wouldn’t you know it—she called me! We had a lovely interview and the June issue just came out and I’ll be damned if I’m not in it!!! I couldn’t believe it. Not only was my little old name in a national magazine, but more importantly, Cri du Chat Syndrome was in a national magazine! I’ve NEVER seen anything about Olivia’s syndrome anywhere. It was thrilling.

You know what was even better? The reaction to the article. On Facebook and in person, my friends and acquaintances have said such kind and loving things about my biggest secret. I’m glad I let it out and forgave myself. I love hearing from people that it helped them too.

For your viewing pleasure…

For sharing your secret on your blog and for sharing it in print. This is going to sound corny, so forgive me, but I’m so proud of you!
