They Make it All Right

There are days when I can’t do it.

I can’t be positive. I can’t smile. I can’t laugh.

Days without sunshine.

Days when worries overshadow anything that’s going on in the moment.

Days when I wonder how we’re going to make it.

Days when I think I just can’t handle it all.

Matt’s job, my job, the state of our country, the state of the world, money, kids, the future…it’s all too much.

And then one says “I love you Mommy!”, and one says “Look at this Star Wars ship I built!” and one says “I covered up panda bear with a blanket because he’s sick!” and all is right with the world.

Because in that moment, I’m a mom with three perfect children who love me.

And they make it all right.

My friend, Vanessa’s blog eSpecially Ben is one of five finalists for About.com Readers’ Choice Awards for Special Needs Parenting Blog. She is not asking for you to vote for her (although that would be great too) but is asking people to take a look at the options and then vote. Voting continues through March 8 and you can vote every day, once a day.

  1. Children are amazing!! Remember I told you I always thought children can move mountains!!! I see it happen all the time! They are such miracles and blessings. I love that you love being a mom so much!!

  2. children are so simply wonderful. they see the world in a totally different way….and i love when they remind us to see things like they do. it’s hard, since SOMEONE has to be the grown-up…..but every now and then it’s nice to vacation in kiddie-land 🙂

  3. There is nothing that makes me feel better than blocking out the problems we are having and just focusing on my kids. We laugh, play, hug and cuddle, and the rest of the world melts away!

  4. Living in the moment… my biggest challenge, but I’m reminded daily with a child… as are you!!! (3x as much!)

  5. It makes me appreciate all the worry that my Mom shielded me from. I’m trying to do the same for my daughter but it certainly is a challenge.

  6. ((you))

So much to worry about. So many things weighing your adult mind. So many things to try to shield the little ones from. And yet, by being so little and open to the world, they let the light in.

  7. Oh, Tiffany sending hugs over your way. Children make the moment a little lighter exactly when you need it.

  8. That is so so true! Lately, I have found myself seeing the clouds more than the lining, but as soon as Imight disappear under the blanket of grey, my kiddos will say something that just breaks those clouds apart and lets the sun shine through. We truly should be led by children.

  9. Nothing quite like tiny arms wrapped around your neck tightly or little lips giving a kiss on your cheek to make everything go away for a few moments. God bless kids 🙂

  10. It is funny how these little shits, excuse my language, but it fits sometimes, say the exact right thing at the exact right time to melt our hearts. 🙂
