I’d like to call to order the Monday meeting of Elastamom’s Excerpts. Onto New Business…
First on the agenda, I’ve been helping my Mom shop for her new digs and we recently saw upholstered dining chairs while out and about. We were discussing how she could have them at her house because the kids don’t come that often but if I had them at my house they’d have to plastic and be able to be hosed down. CSN offered me a $35 gift card to any of their stores to use for a giveaway or a review. I think I’ll do a giveaway just in time for Christmas. I love getting stuff for free, don’t you? They have a lot of great stuff. Last time Matt and I bought a food dehydrator (OK, I was nice and let Matt use the gift card; I have no interest in a food dehydrator!). He used it to make his own jerky. Men. They’re so weird.
Second on the agenda, did you realize there are only 39 days until Christmas? Is anyone else freaked out by that? All I know is I’m on a mission to get myself in order for the holidays by December 1st so I can enjoy the season!! I’m sure many of you have heard about Shutterfly’s promotion to get 50 free Christmas cards, right? Anyway, I jumped on that bandwagon as fast as I could. I haven’t sent Christmas cards in years because of the expense. Free? I can handle that.
I’ve done ecards for the past few years, and I like those too, but I also like the idea of my card hanging on someone’s door for the season. I know I love to get photo cards and put them on display. It’s nice to walk by them for a month and smile. I’d like to provide that smile for someone else too! Sometimes I think it’s kind of silly to send cards because we share them digitally non-stop; but there’s something to be said for getting mail, opening it up to see a smile and a handwritten note on the back, don’t you think?
You know I love collages, so I think I’d pick this one or this one or this one. It will be hard to choose though; Shutterfly has tons of options. I have been using Shutterfly for years. I have one of their share sites to share pics with family and friends. I buy my scrapbook/photobooks exclusively from them. Every year I make a photo calendar for myself and enjoy looking at it each month. I’ve used a lot of companies and I still like them the best.
Lastly, and the most exciting news for me, is I am a new writer over at 5 Minutes for Special Needs! My posts go live at 5 p.m. on Mondays if you would like to head over and check it out. I have been following the site ever since Debbie started writing over there and I really like it. The best part? You’ll get something out of it even if your child doesn’t have special needs!!
Do I have a motion to adjourn today’s meeting? All those in favor, say “Aye!” See you tomorrow!!!
Congrats on your new writing gig! I’ll be sure to check it out.
Congrats on your newest endeavor! I’ll be heading over there!
Congrats! Can’t wait to read more!
Oh, and Marty loves making his own beef jerky too 😉
Kudos on your new writing endeavor! I will definitely take a look.
I haven’t headed over to your new writing digs but I’m on my way! Can’t wait to see how the cards turn out 🙂
I like the idea of getting thoughts down in blogland like this. Checklist out of the brain kind of method. Also, upholstered chairs make me laugh out loud. To just think of the reality in my house!
Love those shutterfly calendars. We do one every year for ourselves and the grandparents. Congrats on your new gig!
