It wasn’t *technically* on a Sunday, but my school offered 8 free tickets to a Toledo Mudhens game if I handed out brochures for an hour before the game. SOLD! Even at only $10 a ticket, it’s pretty pricey to take our family of five to a ballgame. And with 3 extra tickets? That meant each child could take a friend. I know, we’re such nice parents, right? And Bravo! to my husband who had to bring all 6 kids to the field himself because I had to go early. I told you I have a gem.
Matthew’s friend choice was difficult because there was only one of his friends that I would feel comfortable taking to a game along with 5 other kids. That friend couldn’t come so he brought his “big sister”, K. I babysit her before and after school and have since she was in Kindergarten. He was excited to take her on a “date”.
Gabe took his best bud, D, of course. Those two are inseparable.
Liv took her buddy, F, who may just be one of the sweetest little girls on the planet. I wasn’t sure how Olivia would do; she historically doesn’t do well with sporting events. Too loud, too busy, too much. This time proved no different. I don’t have as many pictures as I wanted because she spent most of the game on my lap; that always makes her feel better.
Her friend was concerned and kept trying to cheer Olivia up. Did I mention how much I love this girl?
After about 30 minutes, Olivia was used to the noises, somewhat, and cheered up enough to sit in her own seat and watch the game. I think the mascots coming out on the field and dancing helped too.
Ahhh, all better!! See how much happier they both look? We sat and enjoyed the game, made up cheers and had a great time.
There’s my happy girl. I’m thinking we’re going to try some noise-canceling headphones the next time we go to an event like this. I hate to see her miserable for even a second.
What a great way to spend the day…baseball and good friends!
What a great end of the story!

Sounds like a great way to spend a day. I love summer!
Awww. Your kiddos are adorable. Looks like great fun.
Looks fun! My favorite part of a baseball game are the concessions. Glad your kiddos had a good time.
Ahhh, the Mudhens! As many times as I have been to Toledo, I never went to a game.
So, thanks for the pictures!
I did the game for school too! It was a lot of fun and I put my 11 yr old to work.
Glad your family enjoyed it as well. 🙂
I think that the noise canceling headphones are a great idea. I love that in that one picture where all I can see is the back of Olivia’s head, I can still tell she is having a good time.
Cute pics! Sounds like a great day. I got my husband the Bose headphones since he travels a ton for work and planes can be wearing. He loves them! I tried them the last time we were on a plane together and it really made a difference.
