I’ll have you know that I am absolutely terrible at putting things together. I’m a whiz at math, but ask me to put something together and I’m a total idiot. I’ve been waiting for Matt to put her bike together for a while now, but there was no rush because there was a foot of snow on the ground. Now that the weather is nice, I just couldn’t take it anymore and decided to put it together myself. I did it!! Of course I couldn’t have done it without Gabe who told me when parts were backwards or didn’t look like the picture. Oh, thank you, my 7-year-old son.
Olivia watched us put it together and was so excited when it was ready. It even came with a brand new helmet and license plate!! She got right on and rode away. The whole time I’m getting teary and clapping my hands like a seal on speed and she’s shouting “I’m doing it! I’m doing it!” and the boys are saying “Can I ride it next? No me! I’m next! I’m oldest, I go first!”
It was nothing short of spectacular, I tell you. She’s ridden it every day after school this week. We’re going to take her to a parking lot this weekend and let her rip so she doesn’t have to worry about steering because that is really tripping her up. We need to get off the 18 inch sidewalk for sure. But…she’s doing it and she likes it and that is all that matters to me!
