Welcome to my new home!

I finally moved! I hope you all found me and will leave me a comment to let me know that you’re here! I debated over whether or not to make the switch, and after researching b/c I’m a nerd and that’s what I do, I decided to move! It is super user friendly over here and I like the ease of which you can change things and add widgets and such. Plus, I bought my own domain name so now I’m elastamom.com! (Side note that you will appreciate…did you know that Elastamom’s Excerpts as one word looks like this: elastamomsexcerpts? See that in the middle? Not good.) Elastamom.com though—Pretty cool. I think it’s like anything new though…lots to get used to and lots of things available than I’m not even aware of yet!! Anyway, I hope you found me!

The boys had their last soccer game of the winter season on Saturday. Olivia goes with me every game and cheers them on. She tried soccer when she was in Kindergarten and, when she discovered that there was no tackling involved, decided it wasn’t for her.

But you know how you always want the things you can’t have?

All season long she’s been trying to escape me and get out on the field with her brothers. It’s pretty difficult to do because the field’s encased in netting. She would have to somehow manage to get away from me and go around a corner and down the field…it’s pretty far.

Enter Grandpa.

My Dad came to the game on Saturday and was trying to be nice and let me sit and watch the game and not have to chase after Olivia. He’s a bit overprotective because he’s not around us a lot so if anything I thought it would be better because he would be on her like white on rice.

Not so much.

Olivia’s smart as a whip, I tell you. She’s sneaky too. Did I ever tell you about her getting into a pool that wasn’t even open last summer? If I didn’t, I’ll have to save that for another day. Anyway, she knows how to lull her captor into thinking they’ve got her under control…and then take off.

So my Dad is chasing her up and down the field but on the outside of the net. I’m watching them but also watching the game. All of a sudden, I see my Dad is pretty engrossed in the game and Olivia’s getting awfully close to the opening to the field. I’m sitting there trying to decide if I should run or if he’s going to see that she’s trying to escape.

I run.

She makes it on the field and gets to about midfield before I grab her. She’s quick when she wants to be. She has the biggest grin on her face. All of the Moms on the sidelines are yelling for the refs to stop the game because they’re afraid she’ll get trampled by these determined 2nd grade boys.

They stop the game, I grab her and take her off the field. My Dad is embarrassed and says “She was right here!” I assure him that it happens to me all the time and it’s no big deal. Everyone laughs and starts making jokes about her making a goal and how cute it was.

Olivia looks up at me with the biggest grin on her face and says “This is the best day of my life!”

Congratulations to Vee from Everyday Kings who won the custom stickers from UPrinting…hopefully you received your prize through email.
