Dear Third Born Child of Mine,
This weekend you celebrated your 4th birthday. I could go on and on about how time flies…because it does. I swear just last week you were this little tub-o-love nursing and drooling over your triple chin. Now you’re out riding your scooter up and down the sidewalk like a pro, getting ready for your first day of pre-school.
I just wanted to take a minute to explain the present situation this past weekend. There were 4 presents…3 were wrapped and one was not. Learning Express does gift wrapping…that explains the 3 wrapped ones. I just forgot to wrap the 4th. I hid it in my closet and then before you know it, it was time to open presents. Oops.
Please don’t take it personally. It’s just that by the time you get to your third child you realize that they could care less about the paper. With your brother and sister, I would have traipsed all over town looking for paper to match the theme of the party. But I’ve realized that you would rather play with me than run around looking for paper. That you would rather have my attention than have me wrap presents.
I just wanted you to know that it’s not because I love you any less. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. It’s just that I’ve gotten better at this parenting gig. I’m much smarter and wiser now. That’s why your present wasn’t wrapped…ok?
I love you my precious, full-of-joy 4 year old boy. Don’t you ever forget it.
